MEXICO city | hundreds of Mexicans have again demonstrated Sunday in Mexico city against the president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), calling for his resignation, while the epidemic of COVID-19 is in full swing, found the AFP.
Ignoring the confinement, the protesters who responded to the call of the National Front and anti-AMLO, have formed a long queue of at least 300 cars, motorcycles and bicycles on the axis the larger of the capital of Mexico, the Reforma avenue.
For the third consecutive week, with honking, flag-waving mexicans, and banners proclaiming “AMLO resignation” or “AMLO releases”, they rolled in slow motion under the careful supervision of a thick cordon of police officers.
The demonstrators intend to show their disagreement with the government’s policy of left-wing president, in place since a year and a half.
“We want it [AMLO, ED.] resigned because he has destroyed this country which is one of the richest in the world. There is not a moment to lose”, told AFP a protester, Guillermo García, 59 years of age.
“If this is the Venezuela that you want here, it is best that you’re heading to Cuba! If you want a socialist country, go to a socialist country”, took the man, visibly moved.
The protesters accused in addition AMLO endanger “the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence” of the country during the public health emergency imposed by the COVID-19.
According to the organizers, fashion shows similar took place this weekend in other cities, such as Puebla, Acapulco, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Chihuahua, Cancún and Mérida.
Mexico, with 127 million inhabitants, has recorded up to this Saturday’s 212 802 cases of confirmed COVID-19 and 26 381 deaths, according to an official toll.
