NHL: Patrick Kane's file settled shortly?
|UPDATE DAY
Only one week left for NHL teams to complete a trade for the final stretch of the season and the playoffs. But striker Patrick Kane could very well change his address before the fateful date.
In fact, Kane should decide whether to lift the non-movement clause of his contract in the next 24 hours, which would open – or not – the door to an exchange. At least that's what journalist Chris Johnston of the TSN network suggests.
Several teams would like to get their hands on the dynamic forward, including the New York Rangers, even if they have already acquired Russian forward Vladimir Tarasenko.
Kane isn't having a great season in 2022-23, with 45 points in 54 games, but he's had 10 points in his last four games.
Kane will be eligible for unrestricted free agent status next summer and his roster is struggling on the ice. Despite four straight wins, Chicago sits 30th overall in the National League with 45 points.
We're still a week from the NHL trade deadline, but word is that the Patrick Kane situation will come to a head well before then. Expect a resolution in the next 24 hours or so. I'm told that Kane hasn't waived his no-movement clause to facilitate a deal as of now.
Stay tuned.
