Nicolas Roy in Las Vegas for five more years

Quebecer Nicolas Roy secured his long-term financial future by agreeing to a new five-year deal with the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday.

That's what the Nevada club announced without giving details on the salary of the 25-year-old athlete. TVA Sports hockey expert Renaud Lavoie reported that the forward will earn $3 million a year.

“I am very excited to be in Las Vegas for five more years, Roy said in a video posted to the Golden Knights' TikTok account. I can't wait to play for you. Enjoy the end of the summer, see you soon.”

Roy had a real breakthrough in 2021-2022 with 15 goals and 39 points in 78 games. Previously, he had 25 points in 85 games with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Knights.

Drafted in the fourth round by the Hurricanes in 2015, the former Chicoutimi Saguenéens was sent to Vegas in 2019 with a fifth-round pick for 2021 in return for Erik Haula.
