Nighttime shootings in Monoblet and Anduze in Gard: the prosecution opens an investigation for “attempted murder”

Three shots at eye level in Monoblet, two shots in Anduze. An investigation into attempted homicide has been opened.

During the night from Sunday to Monday, around 1:30 a.m., in Monoblet, a rather peaceful village in the Cévennes foothills, the neighborhood was awakened by detonations.

Shots were fired into the front of the bar. At least three impacts, at eye level, were noted on the facade of the establishment “Verre à soif”.

After Monoblet, shooting in Anduze

The same night, another shooting broke out in a relatively close geographical area.

In Anduze, a little before 3 a.m., the apartment of a young 16-year-old migrant was targeted. The accommodation, managed by the Department in conjunction with the Alésienne association La Miséricorde(*), houses two or three young people. But at the time of the events, only the 16-year-old was occupying the premises.

The projectiles shattered the double-glazed window in the kitchen. Two impacts are visible. Among the avenues studied, that of a dispute against the backdrop of a football match.

The times and proximity of the shootings question the public prosecutor of Alès, Abdelkrim Grini : "I opened an investigation for attempted murder, knowing that a reclassification of the facts is always possible. The shooting perimeter is relatively small. The investigations will have to determine the reasons for these acts. For the moment, no avenue is favored; we do not rule out any reason. It is unclear whether the two cases are related or not."

The head of the Alesian public prosecutor's office confirms that technical investigations have been ordered. "Various samples have already been taken, criminal identification technicians (TIC) from the gendarmerie are on site."
