Nîmes Olympique: a sixth defeat and frustration for the Crocos beaten in Sochaux
|Burner, Doucouré et les Crocos ont perturbé les Sochaliens mais ils n’ont pu éviter un sixième revers de rang. MAXPPP – Michaël Desprez
Beaten Monday evening in Sochaux (1-0), at the end of the 17th day of National, the Crocos did not have a bad match, but they lost again. With more accuracy in the final gesture, he could have scored a draw which would not have been stolen.
We saw on Monday January 15 the difference between a team which plays at the top of the table and another which struggles not to go down. Not in the game or in the number of chances, because the Crocos, for once, were largely up to the task. Rather in the ability to tilt events in the right direction, to manage the famous little details that make the difference.
The results of the 17th day and the National ranking
"In our situation, things are not good", noted Frédéric Bompard, after this sixth defeat in a row, which he wanted to judge "encouraging" ;. Sochaux "was not flamboyant, it’s the match where we had the fewest chances", admitted Oswal Tanchot, but Sochaux won and found themselves two points from the podium while the Crocos are still five points behind the first non-relegation place.

A whistleable but severe penalty
Nîmes was trailing at the break, and it really wasn't deserved. Dominant overall, facing the muddled and woozy Sochaliens, the Crocos were punished for their single mistake. The penalty was whistleable (Diouf's foul on Fatar), but it was still severe. Without asking any questions, Fatar took Paradowski on the wrong foot (1-0, 43rd).

Frustrating, because this situation would not have existed if, a few seconds earlier, Laurens had not missed a restart and slipped when recovering the ball that was coming back at him. Frustrating because until then, Sochaux had found itself without a solution facing the low block of disciplined Crocos, arranged in 4-4-2 and who perfectly enclosed the opposing midfielders. "The Nîmes had a big match tactically, praised Tanchot. In the first period, they give us nothing and we create nothing for ourselves. They could even have opened the score."
The reaction of Mathis Picouleau
"We come away frustratedé of this match. The team posted a strong performance. a beautiful state of mind. Above that, there is nothing to show for it. say. To leave with a draw would have been a shame. amply deserved. We had some strong moments, we created some ideas. opportunities, which we did not succeed in before do in the last matches. To equalize, we would have had to be more “killers” in the opposing area. We must continue like ça, à at some point, çit will turn out in our favor."
Burner (6th), Mbemba (8th) and Doucouré (21st, 45th +4) actually had goal balls. "On counterattacks and transitions, we could have scored", regretted Bompard. Doucouré said it during the break at the Canal+ microphone, it was necessary to be "more surgical", more precise, fairer.
"We sinned in the finish"
The Nîmes were not more so in the second half and they were therefore unable to realize their highlights. "We sinned in the finishing", summarized the crocodile coach, who had in mind these attempts by Mbemba (46th, 53rd, 62nd), Doucouré (60th) and Ngakoutou (88th), who would have liked, also, see his players "prepare more, look on the sides. We rushed too much to equalize, we used too much verticality and depth."
The draw would not have been stolen. It would have rewarded an impeccable state of mind. "We really wanted to do something, Bompard concluded, but we must not give up."
