The administration of the portal LoveROM deleted all Nintendo games from their library.
Nintendo of America has initiated legal proceedings against two popular web sites and LoveRetro LoveROMs, who were engaged in the distribution of emulators for different consoles of the previous generations together with the dump files of the games (called ROMs). After that, the administration of the portal LoveROM deleted all Nintendo games from their library, and the site LoveRetro even temporarily suspended its work. (at the time of writing the news both sites are not working — approx. ed.) reports the online edition of the Chronicle.info with reference to overclockers.ua.
However, lawyers Nintendo is not going to stop there. In the lawsuit they demand compensation from the owners of the resources: for 150 thousand dollars for each game and $ 2 million for every illegal use of trademarks of Nintendo. The total claims are estimated in the tens of millions. Additionally, Nintendo also wants to get the domain names for both sites and a full database of ROM files.
By the way, according to the analytical resources, the total attendance of only one LoveROM exceeded 17 million visitors per month. Advertising on websites and online donations have enabled their owners “reap considerable profits from illegal activities through intellectual property of Nintendo”.
