Tram line 2 traffic has been interrupted between Notre-Dame-du Sablassou and Castelnau-le-Lez since Thursday morning, September 12. A crane truck tore down part of the overhead cable. Tam has filed a complaint.

Traffic did not resume this Thursday evening on line 2 between Notre-Dame-du-Sablassou and Jacou. And for good reason: a crane truck tore down part of the overhead power line on Avenue de Lattre de Tassigny in Castelnau-le-Lez early this morning.

A precedent in 2023

The driver got too close to the tracks while his crane was not fully lowered. As a result, he took the cable with him. Between 300 and 500 meters need to be replaced. A similar scenario occurred in the summer of 2023 near Sabines in Montpellier: a crane truck crossed the tracks, tearing out the power supply cable, completely cutting off traffic for several days. The driver did not notice the incident and continued on his way. This time, the driver did notice the damage since he caused damage to the poles and flowerbeds.

Tam has mobilized its teams to repair the damage as soon as possible and is trying to restore traffic on line 2 to the Jacou terminus. A complaint has been filed. The operator has not given any indication of when the tramway will be back in service. A shuttle has been set up for users.
