Pas de détails sur la demande de Québec concernant la présence des militaires en CHSLD

OTTAWA – following the telephonic meeting of the first ministers of the provinces with their federal counterpart Justin Trudeau, on Thursday evening, we still don’t know if the military deployed in the CHSLD in Quebec will be at work until mid-September, as the demand for François Legault.

More than 1,000 military personnel are integrated into these past few weeks, teams of 25 CHSDL of Greater Montreal, and their deployment should normally take the end of the 12th June, three months before the wishes of the premier of Quebec.

The office of Justin Trudeau said Thursday night that the prime ministers have discussed the recent reports of the canadian armed Forces (CAF) in relation to operations of long-term care in Ontario and Quebec.

These reports have noted some disturbing facts about the care provided to seniors in some centres long-term care of the two provinces.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Trudeau reiterated that the presence of the military in NURSING homes is not a long term solution.

“The first ministers agreed to take measures to improve the care offered to the seniors”, a-t-on said in a statement relayed to the media at the end of the evening.

It has also been discussed during the telephone interview of the recovery of the canadian economy, the establishment of a concerted national approach in terms of screening and contact tracing as well as the work conducted by the working Group on immunity in the face of the COVID-19.

The supply of personal protective equipment for healthcare workers has also been mentioned. “The prime minister [Trudeau] has informed the premiers of the work currently undertaken by the federal government to obtain the personal protective equipment is essential, and successful efforts he has made to increase the production of these supplies in Canada”, has indicated his office.

The suggestion of the federal grant each year 10 days of sick leave paid to all canadian workers is also back on the mat.
