The authorities have ordered the immediate closure of a bar in Saint-Jérôme because the tenants have committed multiple “violations of the sanitary rules” put in place by the government.
Investigators of the police of Saint-Jérôme, moreover, were executed Tuesday, the order issued by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ), and have “sealed” the Mondo Bistro Lounge.
The bar, located at 283, Saint-Georges, Saint-Jérôme, will therefore remain closed “for an indefinite period of time”, indicated the police officers of the municipality in a press release.
The Mondo Bistro Lounge had to close its doors in march due to the decree of health regarding the pandemic of COVID-19.
But since its recent reopening, the place was visited a few times by the police, as with other licensed premises in the area.
It seems that the sanitary measures at Mondo Bistro Lounge were simply not taken seriously.
“The police have found that the Mondo Bistro Lounge makes multiple breaches of the sanitary rules, as well as the non-compliance with the social distancing. A folder has been opened to the RACJ for this business”, informed the police authorities.
On Monday, five police officers testified in front of the RACJ, to recount what they had seen inside the bar during their visits.
The Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux has subsequently issued an order pursuant to section 89.1 of the Act respecting liquor permits, prohibiting the holder and its representatives to admit any person or tolerating the presence on the premises.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 21.
