The Festival international du film de Toronto (TIFF) has lifted the veil on the programming of its 45e – edition, and for a rare time in the history of the event, the Quebec shines by its absence. While many were expecting to see films like Nadia, Butterfly and The goddess flies to the fire to be part of the selection, these securities are ultimately not in the list that was unveiled yesterday.
It must be said that because of the pandemic, the TIFF will have this year a vintage more modest. The programmers of the renowned festival, torontonians have selected only fifty of the films (compared to 300 last year !). Several big names of world cinema, will present their new works, including François Ozon, Thomas Vinterberg, and Viggo Mortensen. The event will take place largely online, but it is not excluded that some of the projections are held in front of a limited number of spectators.
The 45th TIFF will take place from 10 to 19 September.
