Nothing is going well at Tottenham

Nothing goes to Tottenham anymore

DAY

Tottenham Hotspur players have offered to refund the ticket of supporters who traveled to Newcastle where they witnessed a 6-1 thaw last weekend, but this is not is only the tip of the iceberg.

The London club have been in complete disarray for weeks, and this final setback in which the team was already down 5 0  after 22 minutes is just another symptom.

The club has gone through a tumultuous month which has been punctuated by two coaching changes. After Champions League and FA Cup knockouts, the pot jumped on March 26 when Antonio Conte flipped out in a post-match press conference. He left his post following a “mutual understanding” with the club.

His deputy, Cristian Stellini took over, but things did not get better. He was finally sacked on Monday following the disappointment of Newcastle. It is now another assistant, Ryan Mason, who has taken over until a permanent coach has been hired.

Failure

For the Spurs, it is an acknowledgment of failure since the club spent over $150.2 million on transfers during the summer of 2002.

All this money is not in the end will not have been of much use since the club is currently in fifth place in the Premier League with 53 points.

It is tied with Aston Villa which for this fifth position, which comes with a ticket to the Europa League, but that would only be a consolation prize.

Manchester United occupies the fourth and last rank which gives access to the Champions League. The “Reds” however, have six more points and two games in hand.

The chances that the Spurs will participate in the next continental are therefore very slim. And with the arrival of a new boss on the sidelines, it's a safe bet that some of last summer's acquisitions will go elsewhere next summer.

< p>Lasting effect

Worse still, the effects of Conte's departure are likely to be felt for some time to come as sporting director Daniel Levy's acquisitions were driven by the coach's style of play.

What's more , the style was decidedly Italian since the previous sporting director also came from the big boot. But now, Fabio Paratici has been suspended by FIFA from all international activities for a period of thirty months following a financial scandal in Italy.

Patarici officially resigned on April 21 when his appeal request was denied.

All of this brings us to the next hot issue that Daniel Levy will have to deal with, the contract renewal of captain Harry Kane, a Spurs at heart and soul.

The post-Kane

But Kane, who is also the captain of the England national team, is an extremely courted man and, considering the woes of Spurs, he could be tempted by another experience.

Paris Saint-Germain have been very clear in their intentions, they make acquisition a priority for the next transfer window, but there will be competition.

Other English clubs are playing soft eyes to the English striker, which will certainly cause headaches for Levy, who must not escape it at the risk of further spoiling an already difficult relationship with the club's supporters.

The summer will certainly be hot for Tottenham and will prove everything for the 2023-2024 season.

PSG AND PARIS AT KNIVES DRAWN

There is not much love between the management of Paris Saint-Germain and the mayor of Paris. The club submitted a purchase offer of 57.1 million $ (38 million euros) for the Parc des Princes and the Stade de France, but Mayor Anne Hidalgo remained frozen. “The stadium belongs to the Parisians, it does not belong to me […] so we have to set prices which must correspond to the good. The club offered 38 million euros. I think ridiculous is the word,” she said in a radio interview on Thursday.

THE TITLE MAY LACK ARSENAL

Arsenal sit atop the Premier League table with 75 points, but that top spot is far from certain. Manchester City, who are second on 73 points are in resplendent form at the moment and have two games in hand, which could make things very difficult for the “Gunners”. who last tasted the championship in 2004 at a time when Thierry Henry was still the star of the club.

MODRIC WILL STAY ONE MORE YEAR< /strong>

Luka Modric has been making a splash at Real Madrid since the 2012 season and it will continue for another season as he intends to extend his association with the Madrid club for at least another year. The sports daily Asindicated that the Croatian already had a personal conversation with President Florentino Pérez to inform him of his intentions. This should put an end to the rumors sending him to join Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.

CATELLANOS HAS FUN

Taty Castellanos celebrating the second of his four goals against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Former New York City FC striker in the MLS, Valentin Castellanos seems to be enjoying himself in Spain. The 24-year-old Argentinian scored all of his side's goals in a 4-2 win for Girona over Real Madrid earlier this week. Taty is eighth among La Liga's top scorers with eleven goals. By the way, he became the first player to score four goals against Real Madrid in the 21st century. That's nice on a CV.
