As Vladimir Putin is getting tough on Ukraine by mobilizing more than 300,000 Russian reservists and plotting bogus referendums in occupied Ukrainian territories, a Russian member of parliament and TV presenter made explosive statements.
On the set of a Russian state television program, Andrey Gurulyov, a member of the Russian parliament, found the argument that nuclear weapons were used in Ukraine absurd, reports the Belgian news site La Free.
“Why would we carry out a nuclear attack on Ukraine? We should be able to live there later,” explained Andrey Gurulyov. “There are plenty of other targets. Just think of Ramstein [US Air Force base in Germany].”
He then said moments later, “Why bomb Germany when there is also the Great -Brittany, source of all evil?»
The presenter of the show, Olga Skabeyeva, nicknamed the “iron doll of Putin's TV”, however added.
“We should have done it this Monday at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II she said dryly, speaking of the nuclear bomb. “All the important people were there.”
The exchanges on set continued.
“Isn't Britain calling itself the unshakable island? We're going to shake them up,” added Andrey Gurulyov. 43 on QUB radio:
The former Russian president and number two of the country's Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, affirmed this week on Telegram that the separatist regions of Lugansk and Donetsk (east), which form the Donbass basin, as well as Kherson and Zaporizhia (south), “will integrate Russia”.
He said that his country is ready for a nuclear strike on the West if necessary: Russian “hypersonic” missiles are able to achieve their goals in Europe and the United States much faster” than Western weapons.
