Nurses can make up to $120,000 a year

Régine Laurent is delighted with the incentives for health care personnel announced by the Quebec government on Thursday.

On the show Le Bilan< /em>, the former president of the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec described these new improvements as “major”.

“It's very good for the population, because we don't know when we'll need to go to the hospital,” she proclaims.

After consulting the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Régine Laurent was able to establish that a nurse with a university education and who works full time will now be able to receive $122,000 a year when she reaches the last salary step.

For a nurse who studied at CEGEP, the maximum salary is around $112,000.

“It's important because we need to attract people, we need to retain those who are there and we need those who work part-time to increase their working hours”

Under new measures, the COVID premium will be extended to more workers. The hourly rate will be doubled when a full-time healthcare network employee has to work a sixth or even a seventh day per week.

Part-timers will see their hourly rate double if they work an extra shift and will receive $100 more if they work 30 hours or more per week.
