“Of course, the motivation is increased tenfold in these matches”: the AS Béziers U17 Nationals beat OM
|Les U17 de l’ASB n’ont plus perdu à domicile depuis un an et demi.
Sunday, October 13, at the Présidente stadium, the young Béziers players took the scalp of the Marseille leaders. In their lair, they have been undefeated for a year and a half now.
“They arrived a little too confident, thinking that it was going to be easy for them”, says François Lorente, the coach of the ASB U17 Nationals. This Sunday, October 13, Olympique de Marseille, group leader and on a series of five consecutive victories, came to challenge ASB at the Présidente stadium.
The Marseillais were surely expecting a quiet match, against a Béziers player who had a sluggish start to the season. It was not the case: “It was a very good match, rejoices the Béziers coach. The players put in a lot of commitment, a lot of aggression, our desire was greater than theirs. In addition, we were helped by the public who supported us from start to finish."
"We have been unbeaten at home for a year and a half"
Having been tied just before the break, the Héraultais were able to regain the advantage and could have even won more widely if they had converted their penalty. In their stadium, they wanted to preserve their unbeaten streak. “We have been unbeaten at home for a year and a half, rejoices François Lorente. These are gala matches, there is an investment among the players that can be increased tenfold when you face a training center. They want to show themselves against these opponents.”
Thanks to this victory, the Béziers team have given themselves a bit of breathing room in the standings before going to play an important derby on the ground of Entente Saint-Clément/Montferrier.
