Alone, three gatherings in private are at the origin of a score of infections to the COVID-19 in the regions of Quebec and Chaudière-Appalaches, alarmed public health authorities.
The balance sheet of the contagion is on the rise again in the beginning of the week in the Quebec city region.
While the vice-premier of Québec, Geneviève Guilbault, was worried about Monday, the multiplication of outbreaks in private parties and sensibilisait teens and young adults about the consequences “potentially disastrous” for the COVID-19, new cases related to parties have been identified these last days.
On Monday, the CIUSSS of the National Capital was state of 16 new people with the COVID-19, which have been contaminated by communal transmission, said Mathieu Boivin, spokesman for the regional health centre.
“They are linked to two events in private,” he said, seeing the demonstration, “[that]it is necessary to observe more than ever the instructions ” as the limit on the number of guests and the port of the cover face, when the physical distance is difficult to observe.
In Lac-Etchemin, a “party pool” has also been associated with four cases of contamination to date and has resulted in the isolation of 16 individuals, according to the CISSS of Chaudière-Appalaches.
Moreover, this region must cope with a second outbreak in a work environment in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. Eight workers of the company Plastiques Gagnon received a positive diagnosis by date of Tuesday.
“To me, it is the speed at which it spreads. I’m really surprised, because we had about half of these cases [which] were asymptomatic, ” says the general director of Plastiques Gagnon, Dany Tremblay.
This last is said even more amazed, as the company believed it had “everything in place” to guard against the pandemic, having put forward 56 actions well before the outbreak. Almost all of the employees could be tested, Friday and last Monday.
“The virus is still there “
These two recent outbreaks are the first reported in more than two months in Chaudière-Appalaches, and occur in regions that had been largely spared during the first months of the crisis, which is of concern to the director of public health of this territory.
“There are two outbreaks that are ongoing in two areas where it should not be,” said Dr. Liliana Romero, lifting that “the virus is still there” and that it must continue to ” protect themselves “.
► Remember that the gatherings are private, as much external as internal, must be limited to a maximum of 10 persons from three households, and that the distance of two metres must be maintained between individuals who do not have the same address.
