In order to encourage as many Quebecers as possible to visit their province, the government will, this summer, a range of discounts that apply, for example, to the purchase of packages to visit various tourist attractions.

“Yes, we can now dream of a beautiful summer,” said at a press conference the minister of Tourism, Caroline Proulx, in making the announcement of the second phase of its plan to boost the tourism sector, which provides for expenditure of $ 753 million $ over two years.

Of this amount, a tranche of $ 20 million will be distributed to Quebecers who choose to escape on the roads of Quebec.

The minister Proulx took the opportunity to announce the re-opening, starting on 19 June, zoos, and places of hospitality and tourist information.

The artisans, processors, and farms agritourism will also be able to resume receiving visitors for the same date. As for the sea trips, they will be able to resume from 1 July.

Various discounts

  • The Explore program in Quebec, which allows us to reduce the rates arians to travel in Quebec, will be expanded to the land transport. Thus, 25% of which will be available on some vacation packages.
  • “All of the packages on the market are composed of two nights and two tourist attractions”, said Ms. Proulx.

  • A 50% discount will also be granted, as from 22 June to purchase the annual card of the network of the SÉPAQ, which allows access to all of its parks and that includes a free night’s stay on a camping site.

Help for the industry

Tourism businesses will benefit, for their part, are of different measures. The concerted action Programme temporary (PACT) will be increased from 446 million $ in order to offer the industry assistance in the form of loans.

The hotels and lodges will also be entitled to a direct equivalent to the amount of the tax on tourist accommodation taken during the first quarter of 2020.

An envelope of $ 200 million will also be reserved to encourage the hotels to renovate their facilities as the economy idles.
