“On a secret mission”, a Montpellier scooter rider approaches a motorcyclist stopped at a light and strikes him several times with his pliers

Le mis en cause, persuadé d’avoir rendu service à la société, a finalement été accompagné à l’hôpital psychiatrique La Colombière.

Surreal scene, this Wednesday, April 24, around 5:45 p.m., on Avenue de la Justice-de-Castelnau in the Aiguelongue district of Montpellier. A motorcyclist stopped at a traffic light was attacked by a scooter rider who came alongside him.

He started talking to her, gibbering something inaudible. The biker, surprised, looked at him taken aback and, suddenly, the scooter rider flew into a rage, gesticulating in all directions.

Then he took out a pair of pliers and struck his disconcerted opponent several times on the visor of his helmet. The victim dismounted and tried to prop his two-wheeler on its stand.

It was at that moment that his attacker pushed him violently and caused him to fall heavily to the ground. Fortunately, seeing this, passers-by intervened and helped the biker to get up. The accused remained there, convinced of having rendered a service to society.

Messless comments

Making disjointed and meaningless remarks, this 51-year-old from Montpellier was arrested by national police officers who placed him in police custody for questioning.

That's where he confessed to them that he was on a "secret mission" to protect motorists. He was finally taken to the La Colombière psychiatric hospital in Montpellier for treatment.
