Three care units at the Haut-Richelieu Hospital in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Montérégie, are grappling with an outbreak of COVID-19. & nbsp;

The first outbreak began last Tuesday, confirms by email Martine Lesage, spokesperson for the CISSS de la Montérégie-Center. & nbsp;

In all, 10 patients have tested positive for COVID-19 in these outbreaks and less than five healthcare workers. & Nbsp;

The CISSS de la Montérégie-Center ensures that “all precautions are taken within the units to avoid the spread”. & Nbsp;

Visits are particularly prohibited in units affected by cases of COVID -19 until further notice, except for humanitarian reasons and for family caregivers. & Nbsp;

Security guards would be present in each of the units and transfers to other units of the hospital prohibited except for medical emergencies. & nbsp;

In addition, admissions of patients to hatching units are not permitted until further notice. & nbsp;

Stricter measures during transfers to CHSLDs

Faced with the situation at the Haut-Richelieu Hospital, the CISSS de la Montérégie-Center affirms that it “took the decision to return to stricter measures ”, relative to screening for COVID-19 and the transfer of patients to CHSLDs. & nbsp;

“This means that we resume systematic screening tests for COVID-19 on all care units within 48 hours before a mid-life transfer (the result must be negative at the time of transfer)”, explains Ms. Lesage by email. & nbsp;

The directives of the Ministry of Health (MSSS) currently applied by the CISSS during transfers of patients from hospitals to CHSLDs provide for “preventive screening as soon as a unit is on alert (1 case). ” 12 and 14 as well as isolation in the room for the duration of the screenings ”, adds the spokesperson. & Nbsp;
