Hacking Outlook lasted from 1 January to 28 March
Attackers are going to sell the stolen data
Microsoft has officially stated that its Outlook email service were hacked since the beginning of 2019. In March, the specialists of the company managed to close the gap in security, and about the incident, Microsoft said just now. The company also told what kind of user information got into the hands of hackers, reports The Verge.
As the manual says the software giant, the hackers were able to acquire access the e-mail address of the hacked user, folder names, contents of emails and contacts account. The hacking lasted from 1 January to 28 March. Taking possession of the accounts, the hackers used them to send spam.

Despite the fact that hackers are unable to steal passwords and read the contents of shipments and investments, Microsoft still recommends to change the passwords of all Outlook users. The company also does not mention the number of affected users.
But the biggest threat to Microsoft was not the hacking of user accounts, and access to information about thousands of law enforcement officers of the United States – cybercriminals are going to sell the data.
