The twist in Ozark: “It was so hard”
Season 4 of Ozark (which is the last of the series) is available on Netflix. At least part 1 of season 4, since season 4 of Ozarkis cut in 2 parts (the release date of part 2 is still unknown for the moment). A part 1 which is made up of 7 episodes with a huge twist in episode 7. It's not directly about Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy (Laura Linney), but fans who have already watched the “final” episode n 'still can't come back.
Wyatt (Charlie Tahan), cousin of Ruth (Julia Garner), is dead. He is killed by Javi (Alfonso Herrera), Navarro's nephew (Felix Solis) in episode 7 of season 4. And that's not all, Darlene (Lisa Emery), Wyatt's wife, is also kill by Javi. Two deaths that surprised and shocked many Netflix subscribers.
Chris Mundy, the showrunner of Ozark, explained his decision to kill Wyatt. He told TVLine: “It was so hard. It's something that evolved. It wasn't the original plan. There aren't a lot of soft or pure souls on our show. And there is one. And then , I love Charlie Tahan (the actor who plays Wyatt, editor's note). Obviously, you have to separate the actor from the role, but my instinct pushes me to want to protect Wyatt. So it was very difficult (to kill him, editor's note )”.
The death of (SPOILERS): “We had to do it”
Before have Wyatt eliminated by Javi, did the writers of the series with Jason Bateman hesitate? “There was a lot of debate” acknowledged Chris Mundy, “But we knew we were writing for an end, so for us it was like 'You know what? Even though it's a very difficult decision, we have to do the thing that pushes Ruth to her most brutality'. It was the only thing that could expose her. So we had to do it”.
“If it was season 2, we wouldn't have done it. I wouldn't have wanted to be without Wyatt for so long” he clarified, “But knowing that we were coming to an end – and what that might do to the dynamic of the last 7 episodes – I knew it was the right decision”. Following the death of her cousin, Ruth is therefore in danger of exploding in part 2 of season 4 of Ozark.
