Paralympic Torch Relay in Montpellier: Traffic and parking restrictions, Sunday August 25

A festive and open program awaits the people of Montpellier, this August 25, in the afternoon, during this ceremony preceding the start of the Paralympic Games, set for August 28. Traffic and parking will however be impacted.

This Sunday, August 25, in Montpellier, the Olympic flame will be in Montpellier! From 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., it will make three loops between Peyrou and Place de la Comédie. The site of the Flame Festival will be Peyrou from 2:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. As for Place de la Comédie, meet from 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. to see the flame.

But who says exceptional event also says exceptional measures. It will not be possible to drive or park along the Torch Relay route and at the various festivities. Failure to comply will result in immediate impoundment. Active travel will therefore be preferred.

From 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., vehicle parking will be prohibited on Boulevard Victor Hugo, from Place Molière to Rue de Maguelone.

From 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., parking and parking will be prohibited on the following streets: la Blottière, François Franque, Foch, de la Merci, Barthez and place de la Comédie. For 2 wheels: parking prohibited at the bike racks on rue Foch and in front of Halles Castellane, Espace Philippe IV de Valois and rue Foch.

Diversions in place

Sunday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., a diversion is in place for all vehicles using Rue du Faubourg Saint-Jaumes. The diversion route passes through rue du Faubourg Saint-Jaumes and rue du Carré du Roi.

A diversion is in place for all vehicles using rue Pitot in the direction of Arceaux/Peyrou. The diversion route passes through rue Pitot and rue Gouan.

A general diversion is in place for all vehicles, taking the following route: Cours Gambetta, Plan Cabanes, rue du Faubourg du Courreau, and rue de l’École de Droit (whose direction of traffic will be reversed from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., allowing users to use it in the direction of rue du Faubourg du Courreau towards rue Clapiès).

Parking, public transport and information

The Peyrou-Pitot car park remains open throughout the event. The Foch car parks РPr̩fecture and Arc de Triomphe will not be accessible between 12:00 and 21:00.

For the tramway, line 4 is closed between Albert 1er and Observatoire (it does not serve Peyrou and Saint-Guilhem stations).

Buses will run normally, although delays may be expected due to the postponement of car traffic.

At the same time, to accompany this day, the exhibition of the “Louis Nicollin Olympic collection” will be exceptionally open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Opéra Comédie. Already more than 16,000 visitors have been recorded to date.

Restrictions on access to the pedestrian area

From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., vehicle access to the pedestrian area will be reserved exclusively for organizers, security forces and emergency services.

All of the Écusson terminals will be positioned in high-forced position at with the exception of rue Auguste Broussonnet, place Giral and rue du Faubourg du Courreau.

Pedestrians will be able to circulate normally, except on the path used exclusively by the convoy during its activation.

– Rue de l’Aiguillerie – Rue Draperie rouge
