This Monday, the names of the Olympic flame bearers in Millau were revealed. They will be on the course on May 13.

The date is now marked in the sports lovers' calendar. On May 13, Millau will welcome the Olympic flame for an unprecedented relay, before the Paris 2024 Games. It will leave at 8:30 a.m., for an hour of festivities in the city, a moment accessible to all. 

Pauline Delavergne new selected

This Monday, the Organizing Committee for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (Cojo) announced the good news to the lucky elect. For Millau, two faces were already known and had been drawn at random during the associations forum in September. They were the kayaker Thomas Richard and the former footballer Natacha Burg.

They will be accompanied for this popular festival by another South Aveyron resident, Pauline Delavergne, the only name revealed by the Cojo this Monday for the Millavine stage. "I will be proud to represent the people of Millau, and more generally all Aveyron residents and sports enthusiasts, by carrying the Olympic Flame during its visit to Millau, welcomes the interested party. A sportswoman from a very young age, I played basketball, football and skiing. Today, my passion turns to running and cycling, two sports inevitable as a resident of the capital of nature sports and which can only make you love the beautiful landscapes of Aveyron." In addition to her passion for sport, she is also involved with the Young Economic Chamber (JCE) of Millau. "Association with which we carry out projects for the city on different themes in order to act in favor of a better society, she indicates. I will be proud to be the torch relay for bear witness to everything that sport has always given me."

80% of carriers known to date

Some of them have not yet been notified. Of the 11,000 carriers in total, 80% were made official this Monday, January 15. "The bearers of the flame were selected based on their commitment and their actions to bring to life at least one of the three energies of Paris 2024, indicates the Cojo. The latest profiles will be revealed by April or sometimes kept secret until the last moment to preserve surprises , especially when it comes to athletes and personalities."

A journey that will end at Mandarous

In Millau, the passage of the Olympic flame will take place in two moments. The first, from 8 a.m., will be the “engagement course”. A route which will not be open to the public in its entirety, with a part on the Millau viaduct in particular, to take images. The second will be the route where the public will be invited to celebrate its passage, between the Parc des Sports and the Mandarous, along the quays and up the Ayrolle.

Once the flame has passed Millau it will go to Montpellier and Sète, with which Millau was a candidate to receive this moment. She is first expected in the town of Brassens at 11:30 a.m.
