Avant les Jeux Olympiques (26 juillet-11 août), découvrez le mode d’emploi de toutes les disciplines. Focus sur le skateboard street.

Origins

Street skateboarding made its Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021. Appearing in the 1950s on the West Coast of the United States, in the wake of surfing, skateboarding is practiced on a wooden board with two pairs of wheels attached at the front and back. Skaters use them to move around and perform "tricks" (figures) in an urban environment or dedicated spaces (skateparks).

How it works ?

Street is a series of figures in an area reproducing urban furniture (ramps, stairs, rails, benches etc).

The competitors first complete two "runs" (passages) of 45 seconds. They are free to perform the number and type of figures of their choice. Their performance is rated out of 100 by five judges.

These evaluate in particular the speed, height and originality of the route. The second part of the test consists of performing 5 "best tricks" (best tricks). Each skater offers a single trick of their choice each time they pass.

Two runs and five best tricks: out of these seven scores, the best run and the two best tricks are kept to calculate the total for each competitor and establish the ranking.
