Paris 2024 Olympic Games: calendar, date, location, history… Everything you need to know about the trampoline

Tokyo Olympics : Trampoline Gymnastics MAXPPP

Avant les Jeux Olympiques (26 juillet-11 août), découvrez le mode d’emploi de toutes les disciplines. Focus sur le trampoline.

Les origines

The trampoline was invented by an American physical education teacher, George Nissen, a diving specialist, in the 1930s. It developed at the end of the Second World War in the United States. The trampolinists then repeat endlessly the three or four acrobatics they know and the winner is generally the one who does not fall next to the trampoline.

As the practice spread to Europe, a first World Championship was organized in 1964. The trampoline made its appearance at the Sydney Games in 2000.

The Trials

2 individual events (1 male, 1 female).

The gymnast must perform a set of ten acrobatic figures, legs and feet together, while bouncing on a trampoline measuring 5.05 m by 2.91 m, at 1.15  nbsp;m from the ground. He cannot repeat the same element twice in a row.

The athlete is judged on the level of difficulty, the quality of the execution, but also the flight time, that is to say the time spent in the air. The ranking is established according to the total score obtained.

To be continued

Britain Bryony Page, who won two world champion titles since Tokyo in 2021, finally hopes to win gold in Paris after winning a bronze medal in Japan and a silver medal in Rio in 2016. But the Chinese Zhu Xueying will try to stop her, who hopes to achieve the double after her title in Tokyo.

On the men's side, for the first time since 2008, the legend Dong Dong, who has retired, will not be there. In his absence, his compatriot Yan Langyu, world champion in 2021 and 2023, is the favorite, alongside the 2021 Olympic champion, the Belarusian Ivan Litvinovich, authorized to compete under a neutral flag.< /p>
