The Arena Champ-de-Mars "is not ready" to host the Olympic judo competitions from July 27 to August 3, said the president of the international federation (IFJ) Marius Vizer to AFP on Tuesday.

"I come to Paris with a lot of enthusiasm, we are ready from a sporting point of view, but unfortunately the site is not ready and we suffer from it", declared Marius Vizer during an interview in Paris.

"The entire IFJ team is on site and working with the local team to complete the site, but it should have been ready much earlier", he added. The IFJ President did not want to &quot go into details" so as not to &quot ;not to offend the local organizers too much", but he ensures that all "the’environment&quot of the ephemeral Palace – the initial name of the building created in 2021 – is currently not ready to host judo competitions: "many things are missing in the installation"< /em>.

"I hope everything will be resolved in time"

These must begin Saturday morning at 10 a.m., with the – 48 kg in women and – 60 kg for men, and end on Saturday August 3  with the mixed team competition.

From August 5 to 9, the Arena located opposite the Eiffel Tower will then host the fight. Marius Vizer regretted that judo is not organized in Bercy, where the Grand Slam of judo is packed every year: "It’is the temple of judo. We know every nook and cranny of Bercy, I don't understand why judo couldn't stay there". The Arena Bercy hosts gymnastics, trampoline and the final stages of basketball. "France is a country of judo, one of the best organized nations in judo, with more than a million members and practitioners, supporters, and l’ one of the highlights of the Games will be the judo competition, so I hope everything will be resolved in time", he concluded.
