The Algerian who hit the headlines for her hyperandrogenism won the -66 kg final on Friday, August 9.
Algerian boxer Imane Khelif became the -66 kg Olympic champion on Friday in a highly charged Roland-Garros stadium that was totally committed to her cause, thanks to her victory in the final against China's Yang Liu, the reigning world champion.

The 25-year-old boxer, who won unanimously on points by the judges, found herself in the center despite herself of a gender controversy led by conservative circles against the backdrop of a dispute between the IOC and the International Boxing Federation.
