Paris 2024 Olympics: twins Maryna and Vladyslava Aleksiïva, young artistic swimming prodigies, in preparation in Nîmes

Nîmes Métropole is getting ready for the Olympic Games by welcoming, from this Sunday, May 5, at the Nemausa nautical stadium, the Ukrainian twins Aleksïïva, medalists at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Agglomeration of Nîmes Métropole, within its Nemausa Olympic pool, welcomes the twins Maryna and Vladyslava Aleksiïva, young artistic swimming prodigies, bronze medalists at the Tokyo Olympic Games as well as several times champions of Europe and the world.

Maryna and Vladyslava come from the city of Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine, prey to Russian annexation ambitions and one of the epicenters of the armed conflict between Ukraine and the Russia. It was also following the numerous bombings which hit their training base that the Aleksïïva sisters had to leave their country briefly, for Italy, before returning to Italy. return there for the capital Kiev.

To prepare for the Paris Olympics, the Ukrainian artistic swimming team chose the South of France to train, with part of the Ukrainian swimming team who will be preparing in Montpellier and the Aleksïïva duo who have settled within the community facilities of Nîmes Métropole: the Nemausa Nautical Stadium.
