The raid continues in the para cycling events. Gold for Léauté, silver for Gaugain and this is only the beginning of the morning.

Para-cyclist Alexandre Léauté became the Paralympic time trial champion in the C2 category on Wednesday, allowing the French delegation to obtain a 12th gold medal and surpass the number of titles obtained in Tokyo in 2021.

Winning in C5, a category that includes riders suffering from hemiplegia or riding with only one leg, Léauté obtained a second title during these Games after the one won on Friday on the track during the pursuit.

Gaugain in silver

A few minutes earlier, the French para-cyclist Heïdi Gaugain won the silver medal in the C5 time trial, narrowly beaten. Three days after having already had to settle for second place in the individual pursuit on the track of the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome, the 19-year-old cyclist tastes silver again.

She believed for a long time that she could win gold, but the last cyclist to set off, the British cyclist Sarah Storey, beat her by four seconds.
