Paris 1st city rap in the world through NLP, Nekfeu and Ninho

According to the figures of a survey conducted by the american media DJBooth, Paris was the 1st city for rap in the world in terms of album sales. With more than 2.6 million copies sold in 2019, the French rappers have ahead of u.s. cities such as Atlanta and New York, but fans of hip hop. A feat that we must, in particular, in NLP, Nekfeu and Ninho.

Paris to Atlanta and New York city for the rap

“This is not Atlanta, this is not Chicago, this is not New York, not Los Angeles. This is Paris, in France, which has been the city’s most prolific for the rap and hip hop in 2019”. It is with these words that DJBooth has announced that Paris was the 1st city in terms of rap and hip hop in the world, ahead of cities such as Atlanta, Chicago and New York. Indeed, it is the French capital who has sold the most rap albums in 2019. For this survey, the american media has intersected the figures from Billboard, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America’s) and the SNEP (syndicat national de l’édition phonographique).

In total, Paris arrives as well as the first city of the rap in the world, with more than 2.6 million albums sold in 2019, doing so better than the city of Atlanta with Young Thug, Future, and Gunna in its ranks. Even better, if the calculations of the streaming French were equivalent to those of the United States, the first week of the release of “Two brothers” of NLP would be better than all the artists of the Atlanta meeting.

Cocorico so ! A national pride that the radio host Emeric Berco alias Mrik on Skyrock, has proudly retweeted on Twitter, rejoicing that “Paris is 1 on the rap”.

A victory thanks to NLP, Nekfeu and Ninho

And if Paris (and its suburbs) has managed to climb to the first place, it is above all thanks to the great names of French rap, such as NLP, Nekfeu and Ninho. In fact, thanks to the albums “Two brothers” (NLP), “The stars wandering” (Nekfeu), and “Destiny” (Ninho), the trio of rappers frenchy has managed to accumulate more than 1 million sales.

The site DJBooth has even concluded that France would be THE country to follow in terms of the rap : “For decades, France has been the biggest market of hip-hop outside the United States, but an unprecedented rise in the rap national over the past five years has firmly anchored the French rap as the genre of music most popular in the country. The stage of a fertile Paris having already surpassed its american counterparts in terms of sales, the city of light appears to be intended to be at the forefront of the globalization of rap to non-English-speaking for the 2020s”.
