(Los Angeles) Paul George wants to end his career with the Los Angeles Clippers, and he took a step in that direction by agreeing to a multi-season contract extension on Thursday.
Whoever has played in six career all-star games could have become an unrestricted free agent after the next campaign. Instead, the California team made sure he stayed close to where he grew up in Palmdale.
“I want to announce my retirement in the Clippers uniform,” said George last week. My heart is here, and I am happy there. ”
George was already due to pocket US $ 35.4 million in 2020-21, and he had an option left to his discretion for the following season.
He averaged 21.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and a career-high 41 percent three-point success rate in his first campaign with the Clippers.
His season ended in a fishtail, however, after the Clippers let slip a 3-1 lead to fall to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
