Perfumes in the underwear and other thefts: shoplifting among other summer daily life for the police in Montpellier

Ce lundi 29 juillet, les services de police sont intervenus sur trois vols à l’étalage en deux heures… Les sept personnes interpellées sur les trois délits complètement différents avaient entre 15 et 21 ans.

The weather is nice, it's hot and the temptations are there. The police see this every day, on the front lines to fight shoplifting. This is what happened three times at the end of the day on Monday, July 29.

At Galeries Lafayette, at Polygone, at 5:30 p.m.

It was first at the Polygone, at the Galeries Lafayette, that they were called by the security guards at around 5:30 p.m. Two minors, aged 15 and 16, of Algerian nationality, were first arrested while they were trying to smuggle 200 euros worth of perfume in their underpants. The two young men did not keep a low profile, however, threatening the security guards with death and trying to use a tear gas canister. They explained that their theft was not premeditated, that when they tried the perfumes, they liked them and wanted to keep them.

Placed in police custody, they were presented to the juvenile prosecutor's office in Montpellier.

At Carrefour Market, in Port-Marianne, at 7:10 p.m.

Still on Monday, the police then intervened at the Carrefour Market in Port-Marianne. There, three young women from Nîmes, aged 20 for two of them and 21, tried to steal 400 euros worth of merchandise, mainly food and cosmetics. In police custody, they agreed to return the proceeds of their offence or to regularise it for damaged products.

Back to the Polygone, to Sephora, at 7:40 p.m.

Finally, for the third shoplifting of the end of the day, back to the Polygone. At Sephora this time, at 7:40 p.m., where two young women aged 17 and 18 wanted to steal 510 euros worth of perfume. They are entitled to a summons before a magistrate.
