In the youth circuit, the Romans-sur-Isère World Cup is the ultimate reference. After four days of competition, it crowns the best kids in each category in one-on-one, doubles and triples. In this elite of pétanque hopefuls, Gard cadets Sami Rahali-Comes, Adel Mezziri-Volkmann and Jérémy Part (Cochonnet canaulois) made their mark and amazed observers, winning individually and in triples.

Canaulois Sami Rahali-Comes, a strong-willed player

For his first year as a cadet, Sami Rahali-Comes confirms his qualities as a complete player, displaying impressive maturity for his age. This time, in a one-on-one match, with 102 participants on the starting line, he triumphed by beating Palavasian Diego Gimenez-Salazar 13-9 in the final at the end of an undecided match.

At 7 all, each matched to the maximum but a surgical diamond from the Canaulois turned the game in his favor (11-9). Note that in the semi-final, he beat another Gardois, Julien Persia (Boules du Forum les Angles) 13-3.

A triumph in triplets

In the premier formula (38 triplets in the running), the trio of the 30 did not do things by halves. To reach the last four, he ended his day with six successes 13-5, 13-1, 13-0, 13-6, 13-1 and 13-4! Same demonstration on Sunday in the semi-final against other favorites, Sacha Jacquet, Loan Ortega and Léo Parreau: no quarter, 13-3.

And what can we say about the final against Kilan Bedjou, Léo Oliero and Nelson Martin. It promised a lot but unfortunately, the first named having fainted, it was three against two that the Cévenols won 13-1. “Too bad for the sport but with their opponents, they took the game in good spirits, given that they are friends and meet often”, commented Thierry Comes, their coach. A state of mind that further enhances their performance.
