To mark the change in dimension of the Pays de Lunel, elected officials from the 14 member municipalities presented common wishes this Friday evening at the intermunicipal hall.
Communication operation successful. By choosing, a few weeks ago, to mark the transition of the Pays de Lunel into an agglomeration by the organization of an intercommunal greeting ceremony at the same time as the Lunel greetings, the 14 municipalities of the territory wanted to show the population and as many local actors as possible this leap forward.
The thousand people who responded and the audience of personalities, gathered this Friday evening, January 19 at the intercommunal hall, testify to the success of the initiative. For once is not customary, the chief of staff of the prefect, the deputy Laurence Christol, the senator Grand, the directors of the consular chambers, the president of the Agglo du Pays de l’Or, the commanders of the company and the Lunel gendarmerie brigade, the head of the departmental and emergency service center, and many more, came to greet this birth.
« A marker of the future »
A birth which, as President Pierre Soujol immediately recalled in his speech, « will offer more strength for our territory ». In fact, beyond words, the figures speak: with Lunel agglo, the Pays de Lunel enters the closed circle of the main intercommunalities of Hérault. It is 6th in terms of financial weight and 5th in terms of demographics (before the agglomeration of the Land of Gold). « The birth of Lunel agglo is a marker for the future, launched Pierre Soujol. That of the desire to unite the dynamics of Lunel and the communes of the intercommunality to assert the place of our territory […] This gives us more weight and visibility within the local institutional landscape , regional or even national to highlight our assets and raise our issues. »
A land of connections
Resolutely confident about the new levers that will make it possible to activate this transformation, the first president of Lunel agglo continued: « The agglomeration gives us more means to go further in the development of the Pays de Lunel. » A space between Montpellier and Nîmes that he defined as « a land of connections » but whose peaceful character he insisted on: « It is a territory on a human scale where the quality of life is preserved, where life is good and where everyone can flourish. »
Three top priorities
Before unveiling the new Lunel agglo logo, « it will be our new standard, he launched, (read opposite), Pierre Soujol detailed the projects that the agglomeration will carry out until 2026 (intercommunal aquatic complex, area of activity of the Portes du Dardaillon, Maison de l’Économie…) thanks to some 45 M€ of planned investments. Projects that fall into three main priorities: services to the population, economic development and ecological transition.
A new visual identity has been revealed
Logo. At the end of his speech, Pierre Soujol launched a short film which preceded the revelation of the new identity of the agglomeration. We owe it to the Chirripo communications agency in Mauguio. « We sought simplicity but also modernity by favoring the term Agglo to agglomeration and using only two colors: yellow, that of the sun and the moon and black, explain the designers. The latter also ensured a balance where Lunel is predominant but the complementary signature “A land of links” is there to highlight the 13 other municipalities.
