The 5th edition of the event that puts the spotlight on sport and metropolitan clubs will take place on and around Lac du Crès, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
What is Sportissime ?
The Cercle Mozart is organizing the fifth edition of Sportissime, a major sports festival, free and open to all on the Lac du Crès site. “Everyone is invited to come, alone, with friends or family, continues Jean-Marc Maillot, president of the association that launched the event in 2019. There will be entertainment and sports activities, meet champions, and attend demonstrations. More than 90 disciplines will be represented. You can stay there all day since there is something to eat and drink. Everything is planned from 10am to 6:30pm, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September.”
Riding the Wave of the Games
Barely over, the Olympic and Paralympic Games are still on everyone's minds. Sportissime wants to ride this wave of happiness to promote sport for all: “With Sportissime, we highlight pleasure, sport, health and conviviality,” continues Jean-Marc Maillot. This allows people to meet, those who come mainly from the Montpellier metropolitan area but also from the department and the Occitanie region. We are part of a sporting framework and the Games are the DNA of Sportissime: all sports, all disciplines, all forms of practice, professional and amateur sport, disabled sport, team and individual sport. Everyone can find something there. I heard that the President of the Republic wanted to establish a big sports festival every September 14th. We invented it and we are very proud of it."
A collective organization
Around the Cercle Mozart and its sports commission headed by former MHSC goalkeeper Laurent Pionnier, there are fifteen volunteers, some of them professionals in the organization like Ali Arab, the boss of Orsa Events, who have been working for months on the fifth edition of Sportissime. With the support of private partners and local authorities: “It's a lot of stress at the beginning,” admits the president of the Cercle Mozart. A stress that disappears once visitors arrive, get on bikes, meet champions, settle into canoes on the lake, put on gloves to practice boxing in our ring. It's our pleasure."
Who will we be able to meet at Sportissime ?
This is the big question that fuels the discussions and hopes of sports-loving visitors. Which champions will we be able to see at Sportissime? And this year, will we come across Olympic medalists? “We always give last-minute notice, that's the principle,’ smiles the organizer. Yes, there will be great champions. We highlight them on site, that's why you have to be there. As for the professional clubs of Montpellier and its agglomeration, everyone will be there."
If the Lebrun brothers who will be in China for a competition will not honor us with their presence, we can hope for the visit on Sunday of Téji Savanier back from his trip to Monaco in Ligue 1 with the MHSC.
One thing is certain, Julien Lyneel, French champion with the MHSC VB in 2022 who participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in beach volleyball, will be present in his capacity as sponsor of the event.
