120 years of an eventful finish of the Tour de France: For the second edition of the Tour de France, cyclists were served at the checkpoint, at night, in 1904, in front of the Grand café on the Esplanade. Supporters of Ferdinand Payan, a Cévennes runner excluded from the race for cheating, tried to interrupt the race. 20 years of the loss of the professional status of Nîmes Olympique: It's not really the birthday to celebrate. It would even send chills down our spines when we know the current sporting situation of Nîmes Olympique in a position of relegation to the National at the start of the year, a position which would plunge the club into the amateur world. 100 years of links between Daudet high school and the Czechs: in October 1924, the first twelve Czechoslovak students took classes in Nîmes and then obtained the baccalaureate. You should know that Ernest Denis, born in Nîmes, is one of the founders of the Republic of Czechoslovakia. Even though he died in 1921, we owe this bridge between the two countries to him.

90 years of Saint-Vincent de Paul high school: the private Saint-Vincent de Paul high school will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2024. On August 7, 1934, it was the Sisters of Saint-Vincent de Paul who created the first professional course at 12 rue des Greffes in Nîmes. The establishment, a victim of its success, expanded three years later. But it was in 1965 that the current premises were taken over. More than 1,300 students are registered today.

180 years since the creation of the Collège de l'Assomption by Emmanuel d'Alzon: July 18, 1844, Emmanuel d'Alzon takes over the management of the Vermot boarding school before founding the Collège de l'Assomption. This is the beginning of a long story that will lead to today’s Alzon Institute. The management of the school will not fail to return to this rich past in 2024.

55 years since the creation of the IUT of Nîmes: if the IUTs were created in 1966 to train in science and technology within universities, that of Nîmes was opened in its current premises in Saint-Césaire in 1969. In fact, it had truly gained its autonomy in 1992. It welcomes each year more than 1,300 students, job seekers or employees. 10 years since the second re-election of Jean-Paul Fournier: mayor since 2001, this second re-election in the 2014 municipal elections would lead to a complicated mandate for Jean-Paul Fournier: clash with the president of the Agglo Yvan Lachaud, health concerns, floods. What happens next will be more enjoyable for him. The 2014 victory will also allow elected officials from the current majority to experience their first municipal mandate like Sophie Roulle or Bernard Angelras.
