Portrayed as an abusive husband, Johnny Depp pursues a tabloid british

Dépeint comme un mari violent, Johnny Depp poursuit un tabloïd britannique

Presented as a husband being violent to his ex-wife Amber Heard in the columns of the Sun, Johnny Depp continues the tabloid british defamation in a trial that opens Tuesday in London with a list of witnesses worthy of a cast of stars.

The actor 57 years old, who has played the Jack Sparrow in the saga of Pirates of the Caribbean, complains that the british newspaper and its owner, News Group Newspapers (NGN), to be presented as a proven fact, in an article published in April 2018, he has hit his ex-wife, the american actress, Amber Heard.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met on the set of Rum Express in 2011, before marrying in February 2015 in Los Angeles.

The couple had divorced with a bang in early 2017, after a little more than a year of marriage. The actress, 34-year-old was then referred to the “years” of abuse “physical and psychological”, accusations strongly challenged by Johnny Depp.

In the divorce proceedings, Amber Heard had withdrawn its complaint, and Johnny Depp had paid him seven million dollars, that the actress had donated to associations.

In addition to the two former spouses, who have announced their presence at the trial, which is expected to last three weeks at the High Court in London, the singer and French actress Vanessa Paradis and american actress Winona Ryder should testify by video link in favour of Johnny Depp. Initially expected in mid-march, the trial has been postponed due to the pandemic of sars coronavirus.

In a written testimony paid to the procedure, Vanessa Paradis, who has been in a relationship with Johnny Depp for 14 years, described him as “a man and a father kind, attentive, generous and non-violent”.

The lawyers of Johnny Depp also rely on the testimony of Winona Ryder, who has maintained a relationship with Johnny Depp in the 1990s. “He has never been violent with me,” she certified.

The defense of the Sun is based, for its part, on 14 charges of violence against the actor between the beginning of 2013 and may 2016.

She tried, until at the last moment, to obtain the dismissal of the defamation complaint, arguing inter alia that Johnny Depp had breached a court order telling them to notify them of a series of text messages in which he claimed drugs his assistant.

These messages were sent at the end of February-beginning of march 2015 by the hollywood star when she was staying in Australia for a shoot, shortly before the incident alleged that Amber Heard has described it as “an ordeal of three days of physical assaults”.

Johnny Depp is referred to “pill happy” and a “white thing”, references apparent pills of MDMA and cocaine, according to the defence of NGN.

After finding on Monday that the order to reveal these messages had not been complied with, the judge, Andrew Nicol is a past in addition to last Thursday, allowing the trial to take.

The judge, however, rejected on Thursday the request of Johnny Depp that are published “all communications” between Amber Heard and two men he suspected of having had connections with his ex-wife. It would be, according to the actor, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk (shown in the contacts as “Rocketman”), and the other is the actor James Franco.

Johnny Depp has also initiated other proceedings in defamation against Amber Heard in the United States.
