SHAWINIGAN | A man in his twenties, possibly drowned in front of his friends, Sunday afternoon, Shawinigan, in the Mauricie region.
According to a passer-by, the man would have tried to cross on a small island in the center of the Shawinigan river, at the height of the Centennial Plaza, while he was bathing with friends. Unfortunately, he would have failed of breath.
According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), which has been called on site to 16h15, the man would have screamed for help. One of his friends reportedly tried to rescue him but the current was too strong.
A search operation was underway to locate the man.
To 19: 45, SQ has stated that his team of divers was expected to arrive on the scene shortly.
