A week after the fatal attack on a prison van in Eure, in which two agents were killed, the unions and the Ministry of Justice signed an agreement this Tuesday, May 21 to provide more security for guards, particularly during prisoner transfers.
The Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti signed this Tuesday, May 21, with the inter-union of prison guards an agreement committing to putting in place thirty measures(the timetable has not yet been set) to improve the security of agents ensuring prison transfers, after the attack on a van which cost the lives of two of them on the 14th. nbsp;last May in Incarvile, in Eure.
Transfers, weapons and phone jammers
The agreement provides in particular to limit transfers of detainees to the courts, thanks to the development of videoconference hearings by judges, and to favor travel by magistrates and clerks within prisons for certain prisoners, instead of bringing them to court.
"Immediate responses are provided regarding vehicle security, developments in equipment and weaponry& quot;, indicates the Ministry of Justice.
The unions also obtain the provision of heavier weapons, report our colleagues from France Bleu. This is one of their demands to stand up to the weapons of war used in organized crime. The Ministry of Justice also affirms, without giving further details, that "the overhaul of the arrangements concerning escorts has been implemented".< /p>
Finally, the deployment of phone jamming devices in detention and anti-drone devices which has started, will be accelerated to go from 18 to 38 establishments equipped with jammers between 2024 and 2025 and from 38 to 90 anti-drone devices over the same period,
A tribute paid to the two agents this Wednesday
In addition, a tribute to the two prison officers killed in Incarville, in Eure, must be paid this Wednesday, May 22 in Caen. Emmanuel Macron being unable to chair it as planned, due to his trip to Nouméa, it is his Prime Minister Gabriel Attal who will replace him.
After meeting the families of the victims at the end of the morning, Gabriel Attal will preside over the national tribute ceremony which will begin at 12 p.m. at the former remand center from Caen.
