Quebec creates a group action against racism

Québec crée un groupe d’action contre le racisme

François Legault announced the creation of an action group against racism chaired by Lionel Carmant and Nadine Girault.

The deputies of Christopher Skeete, Ian Lafrenière, Denis Lamothe and Isabelle Lecours also be included.

The prime minister François Legault gave the group the mandate to provide recommendations for action as soon as fall in the field of justice, education, housing and employment.

“The majority of Quebecers are not racist, but there are people racist in Quebec,” said François Legault, adding that it is necessary “to avoid dividing a word”. The prime minister has again refused to evoke a “systemic racism” in Quebec, unlike the City of Montreal and the federal government, who have acknowledged its existence.
