Quebec helps Sonder create 700 well-paying jobs

Investissement Québec (IQ) is granting a $ 30M loan to Hospitalité Sonder Canada to help it carry out a major $ 182M project in Montreal, which should go hand in hand with the creation of more than 700 jobs, including around 100 in Montreal. $ 140,000 within five years.

“This is a major project with which the Government of Quebec is associated today. This will help attract even more investors to Quebec. It sends a strong message to businesses all over the world, ”said François Legault, Premier of Quebec, at a press briefing on Wednesday at the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Quebec (BAnQ).

For the occasion, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of the Economy, Pierre Fitzgibbon, who also greeted the good news.

“It is not every day that we announce projects that will create 700 jobs. The arrival of this global growth center will strengthen the metropolis’ position in digital technologies and artificial intelligence, ”he added.

Since June 2019, Montreal International (MI) has been in contact with the company to convince it to invest in Quebec, which seems to have borne fruit.

Founded in 2012 in Montreal, Sonder Canada, which today is called Hospitalité Sonder Canada, employs 119 people and focuses on next-generation tourist accommodation by deploying technologies to redefine the travel experience.

Present in 35 cities around the world, Sonder Holdings has more than 5,000 units welcoming some 825,000 visitors.
