Rain and flooding: South Aveyron placed on alert

As a result of the day's heavy rainfall, Météo France has placed part of South Aveyron on yellow alert for "flood". 

The weather is turbulent again this Friday March 8 and a strong disturbance is expected this weekend, particularly in the south-eastern quarter of the country. 

"A Mediterranean episode is taking place, develops the prefecture of Aveyron in its last message from& #39;alert, with significant amounts of rain are expected in the next 48 hours with rapid reactions at midday and potentially first overflows."

The cumulative rainfall during this new episode is of the order of 50 to 70 mm between Aveyron, Loire and Provence. 70 to 80 mm could fall in 24 hours on the mountain range, with peaks of 100 to 120 mm on the Cévènes, according to Météo-France forecasts.

Possible consequences, "significant flooding" particularly in the sector " concerning the section Dourdou, Sorgues, Rance and the municipalities of  "Balaguier-sur-Rance, Broquies, Calmels-et-Viala, La Bastide-Solages, Montlaur, Plaisance, Pousthoumy, Sain-Affrique, Saint-Izaire, Saint-Sernin sur Rance, Vabres l'Abbaye, Versols and Lapeyre."

Idem on the Haut-Tarn section which concerns the communes of Aguessac, Compeyre, La Cresse, La Roque-Sainte-Marguerite, Millau, Mostuéjouls, Nant, Rivière-sur-Tarn, Veyreau .

"Traffic conditions may be difficult across the entire network and disruptions may affect rail transport. Power outages may occur if the situation worsens. The dikes may be weakened or submerged", continues the prefecture which ends: "this situation requires particular vigilance for campsites and all activities in connection with the river."
