Raw beef liver and heart: here's one of the ;most bizarre NHL gimes

BET À DAY

Defender Jakob Chychrun is willing to do anything to stay fit…including taking inspiration from caveman nutrition.

The new member of the Ottawa Senators revealed to the PHNX Sports outlet that he fed, somewhat reluctantly, on raw organ meats.

“My teammates think I'm crazy, so does my family and my girlfriend, he launched. I eat a lot of protein and not a lot of carbs.

“On game days I will eat sweet potatoes, white rice and fruit, but I try to eat unprocessed dairy products.

“It's a bit of an ancestral way of life. I eat raw liver, raw beef heart and lots of other crazy things. The taste is horrible, but your body wants more when you eat it constantly because these foods are so nutritious.”

Despite this draconian diet, the 24-year-old defender finds himself very often in the infirmary. He never played more than 68 games in a season on the Bettman Tour.

On the other side of the spectrum, National Hockey League iron man Phil Kessel has never hidden his love for soft drinks and hot dogs.

Since being acquired by the “Sens”, Chychrun has scored two goals and four points in as many games.
