The Eiffel Tower, symbol of famous Paris, reopened its doors to tourists Thursday morning just before 10 a.m. (local time) after 104 days of closure because of pandemic coronavirus, found journalists from AFP.
Fifty tourists hidden have accessed the feet of the iron lady to climb the stairs up to the 2nd floor (out of three), on the occasion of the partial reopening, which was attended also by a crowd of journalists from around the world.
“It’s very special to be here for the reopening of the Eiffel Tower,” said Manuel Mehl, a German tourist, 42 years old came to Pfaffenhofen (South of Germany) with his american wife, Shanique Chintsanya (28 years), present for three days in the French capital, the mecca of international tourism.
“I’m a little sad that the top of the Tower is not open, but it’s going to go, we have to take the stairs,” said laughing Mrs Chintsanya, while a brass band brazilian was playing on the front steps to welcome visitors.
“There’s 700 steps to the 2nd floor, it is necessary to be sports,” explains Yacine Gueblaoui, team leader of the staff of the Tower.
“I’m going to go up, but “piano, piano”. And if I can’t, this is not very serious, ” says Therese, a French 60-year-old coming from Perpignan, who did not wish to given his family name. “I just wanted to share this happiness. I have watery eyes, but it is of joy. It is a moment full of emotion after these difficult months “.
