Christian Labit et le capitaine du MHR Jan Serfontein sont revenus sur la victoire de Montpellier contre les Lions ce samedi 13 janvier (13-3), match comptant pour la 3e journée de Challenge Cup.
Christian Labit, MHR forwards coach : "This kind of match helps strengthen bonds. There are no secrets. Victory brings more positive things, makes people happy. Initially, this competition was not our priority. Finally, she arrived at the right time. She allowed us to discover the guys.
We knew it was going to be physically complicated. They are very strong, very tough. They still beat the Sharks last week (18-20). It’s good because this competition allows us to face teams with different styles. It allows us to learn to adapt. And tonight is the first time that we haven't taken any tries, especially against a team that scores a lot. This defense sector is becoming more and more efficient. Now we have to be a little less nervous in the game. That will come with time."

"Defense is a sector that is close to our hearts"
Jan Serfontein, captain of MHR: "It’s important to win for confidence. This is a step forward. The result is good but there are a few things to improve. The first half is not very good. We have the occupation but we don't take the score. Mentally, it was hard. But it felt good to score very quickly in the second half. Defense is a sector that is close to our hearts. Not taking a trial is a very good thing.
We've been making good progress for eight weeks.
I like playing with Geoffrey (Doumayrou), he communicates very well, he brings a lot. He’s a key player for us.
I played with a few guys, it was special to play against a South African team. I really liked it. They are strong, don't give up, it's their DNA. I know it well."
