Red fire alert: the zoo, the Lez reserve and the Montmaur woods closed this Sunday, August 18 in Montpellier

Le risque incendie sera élevé ce dimanche 18 août. Plusieurs massifs de l'Hérault sont interdits d'accès tandis que la Ville ferme l'accès au zoo, au bois de Montmaur et à la réserve du Lez.
Due to the red fire alert in several areas of Hérault, the City of Montpellier has decided to close several places to the public this Sunday, August 18. The zoological park will be closed, the Lez reserve and the Montmaur woods are also prohibited from public access, finally work in areas exposed to fires in forests, woods and scrubland and up to 200 meters around is prohibited.
Beware of cigarette butts thrown out of the window
The municipality calls for everyone to be vigilant and warns about cigarette butts at the side of the road, or even risky activities near forest areas (barbecues, tools that can cause sparks: DIY with a grinder, agricultural work, etc.).
In Hérault, the prefect has banned access to several mountain ranges: Access to the following mountain ranges is prohibited: Mont Saint-Loup, Pierres-Blanches forest, Causse d'Aumelas and Moure hill, Mourèze cirque and Liausson mountain, Gardiole and Aresquiers wood.
