Only about forty days to wait. But after the announcements made by the team of the Montpellier International Festival of Mediterranean Cinema (Cinemed), the wait already seems unbearable! And for good reason, as we have already written, the guest of honor of the 46th edition scheduled from October 18 to 26, is none other than Reda Kateb, undoubtedly the most elegant, the most thoroughbred French actor of the present time, and no less the nice one! He will look back on his impressive career as an actor and present a preview of his first feature film as a director, On a Wire.

Another guest with rare, not to say exceptional, talent, Alba Rohrwacher: sister of screenwriter and director Alice Rohrwacher (for whom she has acted several times, notably in Happy as Lazzaro and The Chimera), the Italian actress has been gracing international screens for twenty years with her subtle grace and diaphanous beauty.

One of the best current directors

Finally, the last special guest (not to say, a luxury one: these three names are among the classiest), announced to date, Rodrigo Sorogoyen will be the subject of a tribute in his presence. Since his third feature film in 2016, Que dios nos perdone, which revealed him internationally, the Spanish director has made three major films (El reino, Madre, As bestas) and is now one of the most important European filmmakers; knowing that he also shines in the serial format (yesterday, Antidisturbos; tomorrow, Los años nuevos)!

But that's not all: not neglecting its mission of (re)discovering the Mediterranean film heritage, Cinemed will offer a retrospective of fifteen films, some of which have been restored, by the Italian director Luigi Comencini (1916-2007) to whom we owe such marvels as The Adventures of Pinocchio, The Old Lady's Money or even The Misunderstood.

At the other end of the film news, the festival has also already scheduled previews of ultra-promising films in the presence of their teams: Le dernier souffle by Costa-Gavras with Denis Podalydès and Kad Merad (based on the book Le dernier souffle: aidant la fin de vie by Régis Debray and Claude Grange), Louise Violet by Éric Besnard with Alexandra Lamy as a stubborn schoolteacher in rural France in the 19th century, Le quatre mur by David Oelhoffen with Laurent Laffite trying to stage Antigone in Lebanon in the 80s and finally, the romantic and burlesque comedy A toute allure by Lucas Bernard with Eye Hïdara and Pio Marmaï…

Knowing that the 46th Cinemed has not yet said all of its festivities, you understand that forty days, all the same, is a lot, isn't it?
