Rediscover the sun from a new angle with these spectacular images
|Very high-resolution images captured by an American amateur astronomer show the sun from an unprecedented angle.
On March 17, Andrew McCarthy spent no less than 3 hours with his telescope taking images of the sun. We can see in a video that he shared on his social networks a “tornado” of plasma with a height equivalent to 14 times the size of the Earth.

Having accumulated more than 200,000 photos in five days, the astronomer gathered nearly 90,000 to offer the sharpest possible image of the star that illuminates the Earth.
“The solar corona is actually optically invisible against sun glare, so to get a scientifically plausible look, we used NASA SOHO data as a reference to geometrically transform the 2017 Jason eclipse photo to match the specs. The result is a mixture of science and art, and my favorite work in which I participated”, he indicated on Instagram.
