(New York) Failing to speak, we’ll have to pay, the NBA told Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets.
The league imposed two fines of $ 25,000 on Thursday: one on the player, the other on the team.
The reason: Irving’s refusal to be available by videoconference to the media, at this point in training camps.
This week, Irving has repeatedly refused to take part in such meetings, the NBA mentioned.
Last Friday, Irving issued a statement addressing his silence to reporters, pleading that he wants his message to be well relayed.
“I promise to show up for work every day,” Irving wrote at the time. I’m ready to have fun, compete and win titles with the Nets.
“This season, I want to express myself through my work on and off the pitch. ”
The Nets have since staged a Zoom every day except one.
The Nets’ first exhibition game will take place Sunday night at the Barclays Center, against the Washington Wizards.
