Le président de la République semble bien décidé à opérer un changement d'équipe et de Première ministre. Un remaniement est évoqué dans les tout prochains jours.

New faces could enter government. The Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, could also leave Matignon, mentions in particular Le Parisien.

Which has been received ?

The President of the Republic continues his meetings at the Elysée: the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin was received by the Head of State this Thursday January 4, 2024 afternoon.

The president of Modem, François Bayrou also had his meeting, as did the Minister of Labor, Olivier Dussopt, and that of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin. Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy, must be received this Friday, January 5, according to BFMTV.

As for Richard Ferrand, he is one of the rare guests to have attended the recording of presidential vows on December 31 at the Elysée. He then remained there for a long time, discussing with Emmanuel Macron.

Relaunching the five-year term

Emmanuel Macron is accelerating to try to relaunch his second five-year term. According to someone very close to the president, mentioned by Le Parisien, the "most likely" would be for him to change Prime Minister before the end of the weekend, before reshuffling the rest of the team between now and the first Council of Ministers in 2024.

Three names keep coming back for the position of Élisabeth Borne. That of the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, is for many the favorite. That of Richard Ferrand and the former Minister of Agriculture, Julien Denormandie, are also circulating.

When ?

The window for this reshuffle could open this Friday evening, after the national tribute to Jacques Delors, and close on Monday January 8.
