Resignation of Gilles Courteau: “He must have done good things» &ndash ; Patrick Roy

BUILD À DAY

Patrick Roy believes that commissioner Gilles Courteau has done good things for the QMJHL and that is why he remained commissioner for more than 37 years.

“The man still had 37 seasons in the QMJHL. To succeed in this, it was necessary that, first, he had a good relationship with the owners. He had to deal with that for 37 seasons, working with these people and collaborating with them. At the end of the day, Gilles Courteau was the employee of the members [of the owners]. That's kind of the role he had to play. To have lasted 37 seasons, he had to do good things and probably not so good, ”he said Monday morning.

Roy did not want to expand on the subject and twice declined questions about the departure of the QMJHL commissioner, adding only: “my vocation is to try to play the best possible role with our players and to allow them to supervise them to be good students and to be able to play in a serene atmosphere. We want them to be able to perform as much in education as they do in hockey and make sure they have the tools they need to deal with all that.”
